Manchester’s celeb-spotting hotspots to take in this May Bank Holiday weekend
1st May 2024
With two Bank Holidays ahead of us meaning some free time to explore the city, here are some of the best spots to try to get a glimpse of your favourite famous faces:
1. Dining like champions at The Ivy
The Ivy Collection’s largest restaurant calls Manchester home. Its three-floor dining experience has hosted Coronation Street summer bashes on its roof terrace and was even the venue for Manchester City’s Premier League title-winning celebration in 2022 with the likes of Jack Grealish, Phil Foden and Pep Guardiola partying long into the night. And it’s looking increasingly likely that they will have yet more to celebrate in 2024…
2. Early bird shopping at The Trafford Centre
On a trip to the world-renowned Trafford Centre, the early bird spots the northern celeb. Coleen Rooney and Sean Astin are among a long list of famous faces to have all been spotted on early morning shopping sprees down the years, while the high-end stores are at their quietest. The centre’s bookstores are also popular with selfie snappers with everyone from Sir David Attenborough to David Hasselhoff posing with fans as they unveil their latest works.
3. Corrie cast and the cobbles
When people think of Manchester, Coronation Street and its famous cobbles instantly come to mind. The nation’s favourite street is synonymous with the city and the outdoor set is a hugely popular tourist attraction. You can visit us and even book onto a ‘Star Tours’ to add an extra sprinkling of star dust. Andy Whyment, Chris Gascoyne and Sally Dynevor are among a host of names to have surprised our guests in the past.

4. Afternoon tea at Hotel Gotham
Not only has Hotel Gotham featured in the sixth series of Peaky Blinders, where its classic exterior was used as the imposing Midland Hotel, it’s a firm favorite with celebrity visitors. Oozing sophistication and with art deco styling, the hotel is sure to make you feel like an old Hollywood starlet as you make your way to the Honey Restaurant for a decadent afternoon tea.
5. WAGS to Love Islanders at Peter Street
Another high-profile destination where Jack Grealish has been spotted, Peter Street Kitchen is situated inside the five-star Edwardian by Radisson Hotel. It’s also played host to WAGs, Love Island lads, Traitors and an infamous Real Housewives of Cheshire dinner party. Who’s up for a Japanese and Mexican fusion with a sprinkling of celebrity?
The word on the street…
