If you’ve ever taken a stroll down the famous Coronation Street cobbles, chances are you’ve already met David Owen – one of our most beloved and longest-serving Corrie tour guides here at the Coronation Street Experience in Manchester.
David has been a key part of the Coronation Street Experience since it launched, helping bring the magic of Weatherfield to life for thousands of visitors from all over the UK and beyond. With his natural storytelling, rich behind-the-scenes Coronation Street knowledge, and warm Mancunian charm, David turns every tour into an unforgettable journey.
But there’s more to David’s connection than just passion – Coronation Street is in his blood. His father, Bill Owen, was also part of the Corrie legacy, working as a performer at the original Granada Studios Tour. Bill showed fans around the iconic set years before David followed in his footsteps.
Sadly, Bill passed away in 2013, just before David began leading tours at the new Coronation Street set on Quay Street. While they never got to share stories as fellow guides, they shared a lifetime of memories as lifelong Corrie fans.
Whether he’s pointing out the original Rovers Return doors now in use on another part of the set or telling the assembled guests about where the tree outside Audrey’s came from, he brings an authenticity and love for Coronation Street that shines through in every visit.
David recently shared his touching story with the Manchester Evening News – don’t miss the article: “Like Father, Like Son – Corrie Superfan Follows in Dad’s Footsteps”.
So next time you’re looking for things to do in Manchester and planning a visit to the Coronation Street Experience, be sure to say hello to David. He’s always happy to chat, share stories, and maybe even reveal a few Coronation Street secrets along the way.
Book your official Coronation Street Experience tour today and step into the heart of Weatherfield with guides like David who live and breathe the cobbles.
